Weapons of Mass Distraction

More than a year passed before the US government acknowledged its role in the massacre at Mỹ Lai. A similar interlude separated the crimes at Abu Ghraib from the initial reporting that made them public.
Seymour Hersh revealed each outrage, both of which the government denied or downplayed. But Hersh exposed the blood on their hands, and forced them to come clean.
Last week, he did it again, this time by revealing what any reasonable observer instinctively knew…that the US ordered the attack on the Nord Stream pipelines. Go figure: The fuel funnels were debilitated by the same bunch that orchestrated the original coup in the Ukraine.
It was a shocking revelation…like discovering dead leaves on an autumn lawn. But even indubitable details must be gathered together before propagandistic breezes can blow them away. As Hersh put it, he wielded his rake by “deconstructing the obvious.”
As might be expected, now that the story’s in the bag no one is willing to pick it up. State-succoring corporate media outlets haven’t touched it…not even dismissively. Reuters referenced it only to repeat the government’s requisite refutation.
The New York Times, Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal didn’t mention it. As with food destruction, vaccine “side-effects”, or the genocide in Yemen, they prefer to pretend it didn’t happen.
We can see why. If true, it’s an(other) act of war undertaken by a(nother) rogue Executive…an unequivocally impeachable offense. And since the Germans are NATO “allies”, an American attack on them compels the US government to invoke Article 5 against itself.
Among all potential perpetrators, only the US had the means and motive to sabotage Nord Stream. Hersh details how it was done, and why.
Destroying Russian pipelines to deny Germany fuel eliminates Putin’s leverage, supports US suppliers of European energy, and profits American arms dealers to Washington’s satrap in the Ukraine.
How long will it take the US government to confess Biden’s blast beneath the Baltic?
Who knows?
But while we wait, the rip-offs and warfare continue unabated…hidden in plain sight.
It comes as no surprise that “the Big Guy” would aggress against a couple distant countries that‘d done Americans no harm. After all, US presidents attack their own citizens all the time.
By depriving us of reliable energy, nutritious food, real money, medical freedom, and dependable supply chains, the US government destroys our pipeline of prosperity by diverting wealth to itself.
That’s its job: to enrich connected apparatchiks who run the government by robbing naive voters who think they do.
This is how it works. The government commits crimes, pretends it doesn’t, blames others, then eventually (usually years, but often decades, later) admits guilt with a sigh and a shrug. But it keeps control and retains the loot.
As the dust settles, the news-cycle shifts. By the time crimes are confirmed, they’re “old news.” The story is dropped, and the media reprise their role in dividing the rubes.
With “nothing to see”, they move along…resuming diversionary debates about rampant “racism”, pregnant “men”, or preferred pronouns.
These “weapons of mass distraction” are convenient ways to change the subject. The plebs leap at each other’s throats, while trachea of the potentates continue to breathe free. As these silly skirmishes shift under the lights, the real war is waged off-stage…against the audience, who hardly realize they’re under attack.
Behind the curtain and out of the headlines, innocent lives are eradicated or ruined. And the perps go free. Government gangsters and their corporate accomplices are rarely impeached, prosecuted, or imprisoned. Few Deep State denizens are petrified of pikes or leery of lampposts.
Why should they be? The CIA is only now confessing complicity in killing Kennedy. But no one cares, perhaps because everyone already knew.
As when the World Economic Forum comes right out and tells us we’ll eat bugs, be digitally tracked, and own nothing and like it, our overlords learned to conquer “conspiracy theories” by being overt. They alleviate allegations by announcing their crimes. This anesthetizes the targets, who meekly submit to the next dose of medicine.
Governments love taking advantage of crises governments create. For several years, they’ve been conveyor belts of chaos. Covid incarceration, medical mandates, proxy wars, and energy restrictions have wreaked havoc on a weary world.
Last week brought fresh weirdness…and more catastrophe. Chinese “balloons” and assorted UFOs were shot down. The balloon was retrieved from the ocean and AIM-9X sidewinder missiles incinerated the other objects, so (conveniently) little was left for forensic analysis. Naturally, there was little reporting and almost no follow-up.
Were they real threats? Distractions from the Nord Stream revelations? Or from something else? We don’t know.
But among the patronizing assurances we often receive are promises that disturbing events of recent years are nothing to worry about…and nothing new. A government official informed us last week that unidentified objects being shot from the sky is nothing unusual.
OK.
But we’re also being told that heart attacks are occupational hazards for healthy athletes. After all, just because we’ve seen so many collapse in recent years doesn’t mean this phenomenon hasn’t always been endemic.
I guess so.
Most catastrophically, this month’s derailment of a train carrying toxic chemicals threatens to “Chernobylize” Ohio. Interestingly, not a single reference was found in the print edition of Monday’s Wall Street Journal.
How odd.
Wouldn’t such front page news warrant at least an interior article or sidebar update? But instead…nothing. Despite carcinogenic clouds, plumes of poison, dead animals, and contaminated soil throughout the watershed of the Ohio, it’s as if it never happened.
But it did. Why? How? Was it an attack? If so, by whom? At a press conference with the weaselly governor of Ohio, a reporter was arrested before he could ask such questions.
To the extent the disaster was covered at all (mostly on social media), we were again “reminded” how “normal” such calamities are. With eerie timing and creepy uniformity, everyone suddenly “knew” (as apparently we all did) that there are 1,700 such “accidents” in an average year.
What a relief.
Meanwhile, vinyl chloride, ethylene glycol monobutyl ether, ethylhexyl acrylate, isobutylene, and butyl acrylate fill the air and infiltrate the ground between Lake Erie and the Appalachians.
A few days later, a similar train jumped the track in South Carolina. Yesterday, we heard of an overturned truck in Arizona, with warnings to evacuate the area.
Happens all the time. Maybe we need Seymour Hersh to find out why.
Until he does, we’re expected to obsess about plenty of idiocies that aren’t happening. Climate “crises”, “safe and effective” “vaccines”, goofball “insurrections”, “democracy” in the Ukraine, “white supremacy”, and Putin “driving up prices” while “destroying his pipeline” are supposed to command our attention while our pockets are picked.
As the previous sentence shows, the one thing they mustn’t take are our quotation marks. Otherwise, it’ll be impossible to communicate in this Orwellian world.
