The name of this site, like much of its material, is probably misleading. Its contents are more like periodic reflections than literal diary entries. And the lens thru which those reflections are transmitted is frequently clouded, and often cracked. Ruminations often come across as dictated, but not read.
The last several decades my career regularly took me on the road, and my hobbies occasionally did. Many years ago, for my own benefit, I began jotting down thoughts and observations from or on the passing scene – often in hotel lobbies, airport gates, or window seats. And frequently closer to home.
I try to touch on current events, but without leaving too many fingerprints. Many deliberations are mundane, perhaps irrelevant. Hopefully most are familiar, and relatable. They tend to weave economics, history, and philosophy into a fabric of essays that are usually not well-tailored. They are meant to be worn as off-the-rack meditations.
A few years ago, I began sharing these epistles with my extended family. Some claimed to enjoy my musings. Most merely tolerated them. A couple suggested I consign them to a blog. I like to think that suggestion was based on the merits of my missives. But I also recognize the motive to relieve their inboxes, and share their misery.
This site is the fruit of their advice. I hope a few readers enjoy the occasional bite.
